Short Stories Passed On Through Generations

Ladakhi homes often have home temples or chodkhang. The Moljoks family’s Chodkhang was particularly exquisite: it held the statue of  Thukjey Chenpo, Avalokitesvara (with thousand hands and thousand eyes);  with a skorlam or pathway for circumambulation around it on the first floor.Every day, 30 monks from Likir Monastery would gather together in our house temple to read the holy scriptures of Kangyur. Today the chodkhang has been shifted to a more prominent place, and continues to hold a legendary status in the house...

Saspol Caves Trek

A few kilometres from Alchi, sit the wondrous Saspol Caves that house a series of incredible rock-cut temples and are richly adorned with paintings of Buddist pantheon. Dating back from the 13th-15th century approximately, these incredible paintings showcase a fusion of Indian and Tibetan art. A trip to these caves is a must-do, and can easily be organised by The Moljoks house,
